Phooey! Too Windy for Plant Booth at School Carnival

Our Kids Garden Club had big plans to have a plant sale at our school carnival this afternoon. We had a white pop-up tent ready to go, and a new fold-up table. We were going to sell a bunch of perennials that we had potted up, and some kits of fun little seed-starting and crafts projects that kids could take home and do over the weekend. Proceeds were going to pay for the plants, seeds and equipment we need for our garden this summer.

But with wind gusts of more than 40 mph, we knew that tent would sail away to Timbuktu, and all our stuff with it. But they didn't have room for us inside the school. So we were stumped. We had to cancel the booth.

That's the good thing about a gardening club, though: it's a great problem-solving exercise. We'll sell those perennials some other way, and all our preparations won't go for naught. The "seeds" that we planted, getting ready for this sale, will sprout another way. In the garden, you're never stumped for long! If you can't grow in one direction, you just grow in another!
